We have gathered many beautiful moments
during our journey
God's In Control
Be Still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Panic Attacks
Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being harmed. Niv Prov 3: 25,26
Temptations
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful: he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. I Cor 10: 13 NIV
Faith
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Heb 11:1 NIV
Challenges will come. Tony Robbins once said “The problem with people is they think they aren’t supposed to have problems.” Our life experience as well as scripture teaches us problems will come. The important thing is to know that no matter where you came from, what you did, or how much you have sinned, you are loved by God.The first line on my prayer list is this. “Thank you that I am accepted, worthy, and loved in Jesus alone and nothing else is required.” He loves you and is just waiting for you to realize it and how much he wants to forgive you for all your life stumbles if you will just ask.
If you are hurting, confused, know you are not on the right path, or seeking the true meaning of life… the very best I can offer you is a brief introduction to my savior… Jesus.
If you want to see and hear the message of Jesus in a modern and easily understandable way, go here. This is the first in a video series called “The Chosen”. It is a multi-season series about the life of Christ. You will be able to watch the rest of the series as well. May the Lord’s grace, his unmerited favor driven by love, lead you forward.
The System
By: Ken Holmes
Let me start by saying that I feel less than qualified to be writing this. My journey is ongoing and I feel like I am as much a student here as I am a teacher. That said, I think others might benefit from some of the things I am discovering. For over 20 years I have read and listened to all kinds of books and courses on the subject of success and mindset. I have finally come to the conclusion that in essence, they all say the same basic thing – just in different ways. From The Bible to Think and Grow Rich, to The Secret and The Power of your Subconscious Mind, to As a Man Thinketh and The Science of Getting Rich. And on and on -100’s of books, all with the same fundamental message. ft seems like every time someone figures this out they feel compelled to write about it so that others can learn and benefit.
Yet why was this not working for me? Or perhaps the better question is, why didn’t I recognize that is was working for me? The truth is that it HAS worked. As I look back on the Visions from years ago, many of the things within them have come to fruition and are now true. I’ve experienced it first hand and yet I am somehow still surprised. Why am I surprised? Why do I not trust it to work again? Why am I afraid to write down what I really want? The only conclusion that I can come to is that this surprise is rooted in a lack of Faith on my part. I am afraid to be bold because maybe it won’t work and I don’t want to get my hopes up. I think many people have goals and Visions, but they write down only what they feel is possible, leaving no room for God to work. They are only writing down what they feel THEY can accomplish. They don’t really have Faith that God will provide for them beyond what they could accomplish on their own. At least that’s what it was for me.
Over the past year I have learned some of the science behind this seemingly metaphysical concept. I’ve learned that physiological and chemical changes in our mind cause old neurological pathways to be replaced by new pathways. These changes seem to attract circumstances in our lives which move us in the direction of what we desire. I am a long way from understanding all of this, but knowing that things are happening in my brain when I use the system helps me as I go through the weeks and months of doing the system while not always seeing the changes occurring in my life. I know that inside things are happening. I will never understand it all and that is OK. OnJy God could make such an elaborate system and who am I to try to understand how He does this? Again it comes back to Faith.
As I keep studying and working on this for my own benefit, I have come up with some methodology that seems to help me. I am sharing this here in the hopes that it will help others. I call it “The System” for lack of a better name. It helps me to think of it as a system so I do. I have 7 parts to the system and each part has its role.
Write it in your Vision
Write in such a way as to evoke feeling. The feeling is what causes chemical and neurological changes in your brain. I find that writing short paragraphs works better for me that using bullet points. Reading “I work out three times per week and am in great shape” can make me feel bad if I am not doing this, or just feel like I struck through an item on my to-do list if I am doing it. Reading “I have more strength and stamina than ever before and it feels awesome!” on the other hand, evokes much more feeling when I read it. I have a paragraph in my Vision which starts with “I wake up every day on my own with no alarm clock and watch the sun rise over the mountains from my terrace with a nice cup of coffee before I start my morning routine.” This sounds so awesome to me that I can’t help but smile at the thought of it.
Read the Vision
Don’t just go through the motions. Read it with gusto and feeling like it is already true. Laugh out loud and smile. It’s going to be so great! The goal is to actually FEEL how great it is for this to be true. Say it that way – don’t just read it while your mind wanders to an email you need to write or some other task. It’s less likely to work if you treat this as a chore.
Believe It
Have faith that this is going to happen. Simply accept that it is coming. Allow it! Know that you don’t have to have the answers. It’s not up to you. By using all 7 steps of The System, you are doing your part. This is enough; there is no need to understand the How yet. How is up to a higher power than you.
Be Grateful in Advance
Consciously practice feeling gratitude for receiving this blessing before you actually receive it. Be thankful in advance for God’s favor. This is the essence of Faith. If you truly believe, you can by grateful before you experience it.
Make the Best Plan you can make … and Start
We must do our part. Make a plan and get to work. Know that new opportunities and ideas will come your way so the plan will evolve. But sitting on the couch won’t get this done. Your actions prove your Faith.
Expect to start seeing serendipitous things
Actively look for and notice the small things as they begin to go your way. Understand that The System is already at work moving things in your direction. EXPECT to see them and be grateful to see this proof in your life. Keep a list of serendipitous things that you experience. Having this list and watching it get longer will reinforce your belief and accelerate your progress.
Relax in your Faith
Doubt, fear and worry are the enemies. If you have doubt and worry your faith is not strong enough. Keep working on the steps above until your faith eliminates the doubt, worry and fear. Relax! Know that a positive outcome is coming. It might not be what you thought, it might actually be better! Trust in God’s grace. He will not let you down.
